Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Singapore Changi Airport

How do I transfer between terminals at Changi Airport?
Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected by the free Skytrain which runs 24/7. The journey between terminals takes about 4-5 minutes. Terminal 4 is located separately and requires a free shuttle bus from Terminal 2, which runs every 5-7 minutes and takes approximately 8 minutes. All transfers are free of charge.
How much time do I need for transit connections?
For connections within T1, T2, or T3: 45-60 minutes minimum is recommended. For connections involving T4: allow at least 90 minutes due to the shuttle bus transfer. If your connection requires clearing immigration (international to domestic), allow 2-3 hours. Changi Airport is efficient, but it's always better to have buffer time.
Is there free WiFi at Changi Airport?
Yes! Changi Airport offers unlimited free high-speed WiFi throughout all terminals, Jewel, and public areas. Simply connect to the network named "#WiFi@Changi" - no registration required. The WiFi speed is excellent, suitable for video calls and streaming.
Can I visit Jewel Changi Airport during transit?
Yes! Transit passengers can visit Jewel via the link bridge from Terminal 1 (Departure Transit, Level 2). You'll pass through immigration to enter Jewel and need to clear immigration again when returning. Make sure you have at least 3-4 hours of transit time. Keep your boarding pass handy.
Do I need a visa for transit in Singapore?
If you stay within the transit area (airside), most nationalities do NOT need a visa for transit. However, if you want to leave the airport (landside) to visit Jewel or Singapore city, you'll need to check visa requirements for your nationality. Singapore offers a 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) for certain nationalities.
What free things can I do at Changi Airport?
Changi offers many free attractions: Butterfly Garden (T3), Sunflower Garden (T2), Cactus Garden (T1), Enchanted Garden (T2), free movie theaters (T2, T3), gaming stations, heritage zones, art installations, and gardens. Free showers are available in all transit areas. The Kinetic Rain sculpture (T1) and Petalclouds (T4) are also free to enjoy.
How do I get from Changi Airport to the city center?
MRT (Train): Cheapest option (~S$2.50), takes 30-40 mins to City Hall. Station at T2/T3 basement.
Bus: Bus 36 to Orchard (S$2.50), takes ~70 mins.
Taxi/Grab: S$25-40, takes 20-30 mins + S$5 airport surcharge.
Airport Shuttle: S$10 to hotels in main areas.
Where can I store my luggage at Changi Airport?
Left Baggage counters are located in the Arrival Halls of Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4. Rates start from S$5 per item for the first 24 hours. Smaller lockers are also available. In Jewel, baggage services are located at Basement 1. You can also use the "Baggage Storage" service in transit areas.
Is Changi Airport open 24 hours?
Yes! Changi Airport operates 24/7 with flights departing and arriving around the clock. Most 24-hour facilities include: McDonald's, Starbucks, some lounges, duty-free shops, currency exchange, and convenience stores. Note that some restaurants and shops may have limited hours (typically 10pm-6am).
Where can I sleep at Changi Airport for free?
Changi is one of the world's best airports for sleeping! Free snooze lounges with comfortable recliners are available in T3 (near Gate A, 24hrs). There are also quiet rest areas with cushioned benches throughout terminals. For more comfort, transit hotels like Aerotel (T1) and Ambassador Transit Hotel (T2, T3) offer hourly rates starting from S$50.
How early should I arrive at Changi Airport?
For international flights: arrive 3 hours before departure. For regional flights (Southeast Asia): 2-2.5 hours is usually sufficient. Changi is very efficient, but peak hours (early morning and late evening) may have longer queues. T4 with FAST check-in kiosks is generally faster.
Can I access airport lounges without a business class ticket?
Yes! Many lounges accept pay-per-use guests or Priority Pass cardholders. Popular options include Plaza Premium Lounge and SATS Premier Lounge (T1, T2, T3) with rates from S$50-70 for 3 hours. You can also book lounge access in advance through our website for the best rates.
